Hunter Safety Courses
While we all like to have fun in the field and chase pheasants for miles, safety is one of the most important aspects. We promote and encourage hunter safety in the field. Hunter education classes show both youth and adults the proper way to hold and maneuver safely while holding a gun, but also teaches you to practice proper gun care. We believe it is essential for kids to become familiar with gun operation and be comfortable with handling their firearm. If you are interested in enrolling yourself or your child in the Michigan hunter education course, please click the link below. Youth Opportunities
The future of our sport rely on the efforts of those generations younger than us. To help promote those efforts and educate youth in the importance of what Pheasants Forever does, we host an annual hunt, showcasing why our organization is important, but at the same time having some fun with our leaders of tomorrow.
Mentor Hunts with Chapter Members - We have paired mentors with inexperienced youth hunters in a hunt for live pheasants in a controlled environment. Participants received shooting tips, dog training instructions and a chance to shoot live pheasants. All of the young hunters learned some of the finer skills of upland game hunting from our staff. Washtenaw County Pheasants Forever Chapter is honored to carry on the passion for teaching the next generation of hunters.
Washtenaw County PF holds a mentored hunt in either the Fall or early Spring and our local chapter has participated in Project RED at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds.
Michigan Pheasants Forever holds a Great Outdoor Jamboree in the Fall and has had Pheasant Fridays - at varied state park locations during the summer.
Annual Banquet
Each year Washtenaw County Pheasants Forever Chapter has an annual banquet to get fellow pheasant hunters and others in the community to gather together in support of pheasant habitat. We raise money to help the efforts of conservation and habitat that is related to our pheasant population, as well as educate those new members and youth on why our Pheasants Forever Chapter is important to our mission of conservation.
Member Hunts
Forming bonds and friendships in the field, all in the efforts of conservation. From time to time we have members getting together as a group for Fun Shoots and Member Hunts. Get involved so you know when these are happening - we would love to get to know you better.
Seed Distribution
At our annual seed distribution you will find us talking habitat and handing out seed. Keep a lookout in April for our email regarding our seed giveaway. This is on a first-come, first-serve event, while seed lasts. Use the contact form for any questions.
